SSI Lab welcomes students and researchers interested in mechanics, computation and the difficult interfaces between structures, soil, water and living systems. The best starting point is a genuine question and the willingness to work carefully toward an answer.
Research places depend on supervision capacity, project timing and funding. The routes below explain both the academic process and what to send when you introduce yourself.
A first research experience for Unicamp undergraduates who want to learn how to formulate a question, build a computational model and test what the results mean. You do not need to arrive with a finished topic.
Projects typically require about ten hours of focused work each week. Scholarships depend on the project, the funding call and the student's eligibility.

Admission is made through the programme's formal selection process. Writing to the lab beforehand helps us assess research fit and supervision capacity.
PPG-EM admissionsPostdoctoral projects are considered when there is a strong match with an active research line, a clear independent contribution and a realistic funding route.
Send a CV, a short research proposal and the intended funding scheme or call. Participation also follows Unicamp's formal postdoctoral procedures.

Previous research experience can help, but it is not a substitute for consistency, intellectual honesty and the ability to learn. We value people who can move between equations, code, evidence and clear explanation.
First contact
Write to labaki at unicamp dot br. Include your name, programme and current stage, the research lines that interest you, relevant courses or technical experience, and the period when you hope to begin. Attach a short CV and academic transcript when applicable.
A compact, specific message is more useful than a generic statement. You do not need a complete proposal for IC or TCC. MSc, PhD and postdoctoral enquiries should explain the question you want to investigate and why SSI Lab is a suitable place to pursue it.
